Grading Policies

Assignments and exams will be graded once all materials for a course have been returned to our center.  Work is then graded in the order it is received, and it may take up to 10 business days to process and send a final grade to the student and his/her school.   Be aware of this grading timeframe and make sure  everything is returned to our center in plenty of time to meet any deadline you may have for your school, graduation ceremony, military recruiter, college enrollment, etc. No information regarding grades will be given out by phone.  No student's work will be put in front of other students' work to be graded for any reason.  Once a student completes each course, exams, individual assignment scores, and an unofficial copy of the student's transcript are post mailed to the student.  An official copy of the student's transcript listing the course and final grade is automatically sent to the student's school upon completion of each course.

Grading Standards

Middle School:
Grades 6-8 are comprised of four courses each.  Each course consists of 32 chapters with homework assignments and four quarter exams.  All four courses must be passed with a 60% or higher grade before a student will be allowed to advance to the next grade level.

High School:
High school courses require a combination of chapter homework assignments, chapter exams, and quarter exams. Students complete homework assignments at home, then mail them back to Satellite.  Students will also receive study questions to help them prepare for the chapter and quarter exams.  All chapter and quarter exams must be supervised by an approved proctor in your area. Approved proctors include: a teacher, counselor, or administrator at any school (elementary through college).  Your proctor cannot be related to you or live in your home.
If you are unable to find a proctor, alternate arrangements for testing may be possible.

Grading Scale:
All homework assignments and tests will be graded on a standard scale as follows:

Correcting Assignments:
Students are allowed to correct any homework assignment below a 60% (failing grade).  If a student scores below 60% on an exam, he/she may purchase and take an alternate version of the exam for $2.  If a student chooses to redo an assignment or exam, his/her final score will be the average of the first and second scores.  If a student failed an assignment or exam due to the item being incomplete (answers left blank) the student will not have the opportunity to redo the work and the grade will be final.
