Program Information for Administrators and Counselors:

Satellite offers middle and high school credit-recovery courses as well as a nationally and regionally-accredited full diploma program.  Numerous school districts around the country have used our program for years, both in a credit-recovery capacity and as an alternative for students who drop out of their schools.

  1. Our credit-recovery option has multiple uses, all of which can help increase your schools’ graduation rate:
    1. It can be used for students who have failed a required course or a particular semester of a required course, allowing the students to still graduate on time with their class.
    2. It can be used for students who failed or need additional general or elective credits in order to graduate on time.
    3. It has frequently been used for students who have transferred from one district to another and find they don’t have enough room in their schedules to take enough courses to graduate.
    4. It can be used for both remedial and high-end students when a school can’t offer a course that a particular student needs.  We do offer math courses below the Algebra I level which can be beneficial for those students who need them.
    5. It can be used for students who are temporarily out of school due to medical issues, placement in a rehabilitation center, long-term expulsion, etc.
    6. It can be used for seniors who fail a course during their last semester and don’t have time to complete a credit-recovery course; in many cases the students take a credit-recovery course through Satellite during that following summer, then take the credit back to their high school and receive their diploma at that time.
    7. Students at any grade level (6-12) may take our credit-recovery courses—this is a great opportunity for underclassmen to earn back credits they may have failed before beginning their senior year.
    8. It is fully within each district’s right to set a limit on the number of credit-recovery courses that may be taken through Satellite. Our purpose is NOT to allow students to “grade skip” or graduate early by taking credit-recovery courses through us.  Districts may also choose to limit which particular Satellite courses will be accepted.  We assume that any student who was enrolled in Satellite then transfers to a public school would have to complete a minimum of a full senior year at that public school in order to graduate through them.  Our students are advised of this when they enroll.
  2. For students who do drop out of your schools, they can transfer to and graduate from Satellite.  There are numerous reasons why a particular student may need to leave school, and this presents a great option for these students to still complete a high-school diploma. By transferring these students to Satellite, you lower your school's drop-out rates.
    1. If a student does transfer to Satellite, we do allow them to transfer in their prior credits.  However, students are required to complete a full senior year through our program before qualifying for our diploma.  All prior and Satellite credits a student earns are still listed on his/her final transcript and are figured in the grade point average.
    2. We do adhere to Missouri guidelines for required graduation courses, including US Government (with the Missouri and US Constitution exams), health, fine arts, practical arts, Personal Finance, etc.
    3. In order to graduate, our students are required to pass 4 full credits in English, history, math, and science, as well as their elective courses.  This is above what many states require of its public school graduates.
  3. Counselors, administrators, etc. may always request to see samples of any courses that we offer.
  4. Students may enroll at any time.  Our school is open year round.  Students may start a course at any time.  Credit-recovery students complete courses at their own pace.
  5. Our course fees are very reasonable.  Students pay a one-time $25 registration fee upon enrollment, then purchase each course when they’re ready.  The course fee is $69 per ½ credit, $138 per full credit.  The course fee does include all reading material, assignments, and exams.
  6. Please feel free to copy and distribute any of this information as necessary for students and parents.
  7. Please contact us or visit our school website at www.satellitehighschool.com for more information about our program.  You may also contact our office for a list of schools and  counselors who use our program extensively for their students:

We greatly look forward to working with students from your district and hope our program’s opportunities will be beneficial to you as well as to your students.
